Fishing Glory For Top Duo

PHIL TAYLOR and Colin Lloyd ensured that the darts team took first prize in the celebrity event for the second successive year at the Totesportcasino.com Fish'O'Mania XII last week.

The duo succeeded Wayne Mardle and Kevin Painter at the Doncaster fishing tournament, which was screened live on Sky Sports from Hayfield Lakes.

Each four-man team was completed by two professional fishermen who missed out on the main event, with the darts duo joined by former Fish'O'Mania champion Ian Turner and England international Stuart Conroy.

Taylor was the leading celebrity in the event, catching 3.180kg for his hour on the peg from a total of 15.9kg.

However, it took a last-minute catch from Conroy to secure victory for the team by just 230g following a superb final hour from the rugby team's last representative, Doncaster Mayor Martin Winter.

"It was great fun," said Taylor. "We were all getting a bit nervous at the end and it looked like the other teams were coming back at us.

"But Stuart managed to get one final bite and that was enough!"

The victory saw Lloyd collect silverware for the second successive Saturday, following his victory in the Stan James World Matchplay.
