THE fourth Emperors Palace PDC South African Open will be played on Saturday in Johannesburg.
The Emperors Palace hosts South Africa's leading players as they battle for a place in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.
Over 150 players from across the country will compete in "Saturday Frenzy" from 12pm-3pm, where they compete to score a leg of 501 in the fewest number of darts.
The best 16 players, plus ties, after this time from the leaderboard will progress to the knockout phase.
The eventual PDC South African Open champion will then win a place in December's World Championship - while the semi-finalists will also progress to play in Sunday's Virgin Atlantic South African Masters.
Charles Losper has won the PDC South African Open for the past two years and is bidding to complete a treble this Saturday, while his Cape Town rival Wynand Havenga picked up the inaugural title in 2006.
Havenga has struggled with a shoulder problem since reaching the last 16 at the 2007 Ladbrokes.com World Championship - defeating Peter Manley at the Circus Tavern on his way to round three.
Sunday's Virgin Atlantic South African Masters will be shown live on Sky Sports from 7pm (BST) and also live in South Africa on SuperSport from 8pm (local time).
Facing South Africa's top four players will be reigning South African Masters champion Phil Taylor, James Wade, John Part and Mervyn King.
The four South Africans will be drawn against the four PDC stars for the quarter-finals, with the winners then progressing on the night to the decider.
