Maggie MaGowan

THE Professional Darts Corporation sends its condolences to John MaGowan after his wife Maggie passed away on Saturday.

Maggie had regularly travelled to support Northern Irish star John on the PDC circuit across the UK, Europe and America in recent years.

John famously reached the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix in 2005 on the day of his son Peter's wedding - and was flown with Maggie by helicopter from the Citywest Hotel to the wedding in Cavan before returning to play his last eight game.

Maggie had more recently been battling illness and passed away on Saturday morning.

"Maggie was a lovely lady and very popular with the other players and officials on the circuit," said PDC Tournament Director Tommy Cox.

"She always had a smile for everyone and a kind word. Our thoughts are with John at the moment."

A minute's silence was held in Maggie's memory before Saturday's Players Championship in Wigan.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday May 12 at 10.30am at the Shore Street Presbyterian Church in Donaghadee.
