Nine-Dart Lewis Lost For Words!

ADRIAN LEWIS admitted that he was "lost for words" following his stunning Betway Premier League nine-dart finish against James Wade in Belfast.

The brilliant Stoke star produced a moment of magic at The SSE Arena as he landed the first nine-dart finish in the Premier League since 2012, when Simon Whitlock achieved the feat in the semi-finals against Andy Hamilton.

Lewis found himself trailing 5-4 against James Wade - having led 4-1 at one stage - when he kicked off the tenth leg with a 180 and then landed a 177 score.

The 31-year-old then stepped up to the oche to coolly finish 144 with two further treble 20s and double 12, bringing over 7,000 fans inside the Belfast venue to their feet in delight.

The nine-darter was Lewis' fourth on television, including two previous World Championship perfect legs, and the Stoke ace - who also achieved perfection in a Players Championship six days earlier - went on to cap a memorable night by completing a 7-5 victory over Wade.

"I'm lost for words - it's a really special moment for me," said Lewis. "I took a 4-1 lead and I thought I was cruising, and before I knew it James was 5-4 up, he dug in really well and fair play to him.

"It got to the stage where I needed a massive leg, and I didn't expect the nine-darter to come from it. To hit the nine-darter in front of this crowd is unbelievable, brilliant. I'm over the moon.

"I've hit a couple of nine-darters recently and I'm really pleased with my form. It was a massive game because Wadey's on my tail and I knew I needed a win."

Lewis donated his playing shirt from the game, along with the signed match dartboard, to Parkinson's UK, the PDC's official charity partner.

The unique prize will be used to raise funds towards Sky Sports presenter Dave Clark's Coast-To-Coast walk in September - with any donations of £2 or more via Dave's JustGiving page before 12pm on Thursday May 12 seeing the donor entered into a raffle.

The lucky winner will also be offered a pair of complimentary tickets to the Betway Premier League Play-Offs on Thursday May 19 at The O2 in London, where they would be presented with the shirt and signed board. Any winner unable to attend the event would receive the prize via an alternative method.
