Parry Claims Oceanic Glory

WARREN PARRY defeated Preston Ridd 7-1 to win the 2009 Oceanic Masters.

The New Zealander will compete for a third time in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship this December after the achievement, his third Oceanic Masters win.

A semi-finalist last year, when he lost to Russell Stewart, Parry bounced back to claim this year's title with a comprehensive win over fellow Kiwi Ridd in the final.

He was a 6-3 semi-final victor against Jon Sinclair, having come from 2-0 down to reel off five straight legs on his way to taking the win.

Parry also overcame Richard Komene and Barry Kapa in the latter stages, dropping just two legs in the process.

Ridd defeated former New Zealand National Champion Warren French in the semis, as well as Richard Te Whero and Toko Hazell.

Former Australian number one Steve Macarthur reached the quarter-finals, alongside Bernie Smith.
