Ruan Wins Chinese Stage Five

GUANSHOU RUAN claimed victory in the fifth of ten qualifying events being held on the PDC-affiliated circuit in China.

The tournament, held in Hangzhou, saw 40 players enter, with the event also counting towards qualification in the race for places the Shanghai Darts Masters in June.

After picking up a 6-1 victory against Lei Wang in the Last 16, Ruan marched to a 2-0 victory against Lei Chen in the quarter-finals, where the format moved to a best of three set format.

The semi-final provided a sterner test for Ruan, having to battle to a 2-1 victory over Weiming Zhao to secure his place in the final, where he would face Yuyi Shao.

Earlier in the day, Shao had claimed victories over Yingjie Wang (6-1), Bin Zheng (2-0) and Zhijun Liu (2-1). 

Shao was unable to continue his run as Ruan cruised to a 2-0 win, only dropping two legs in the process.
