Suljovic & Rosenauer Win World Championship Places

MENSUR SULJOVIC and Michael Rosenauer have won the two German Darts Corporation qualifying places for the 2008 Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship.

The duo have finished the year as the top two players in the GDC rankings, following 16 tournaments staged around Germany this year.

Suljovic, who is Serbian-born but based in Vienna, won three tournaments during the year, as well as twice finishing as runner-up to Rosenauer.

Suljovic topped the rankings on 166 points, with four-time winner Rosenauer on 149 points, with Austria's Dietmar Burger and Germany's Jyhan Artut their closest challengers.

Suljovic prepared for his World Championship appearance with a run to the last 16 of the PartyPoker.net German Darts Championship on Saturday, eventually losing to Wayne Mardle.

He will take on Andy Smith at Alexandra Palace, with Rosenauer, who hails from Steinfurth near Frankfurt, facing Mervyn King.

The duo were presented with commemorative certificates ahead of the final of the PartyPoker.net German Darts Championship on Sunday.
