U21 Field Confirmed

THE field of players for the PDC Unicorn Under-21 World Championship has now been finalised following the completion of the Rileys Qualifiers.

A total of 66 players will compete down to the finalists at the Barnsley Metrodome on Saturday November 6, with the final being held on stage at the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.

The inaugural PDC Unicorn Under-21 World Championship will offer a £30,000 prize fund for players aged between 16 and 21, and offers the finalists a place in the 2010 Grand Slam of Darts and a PDC ProTour Card for 2011.

The leading eight PDPA members will be seeded in Barnsley, and are led by Dutch ace Michael van Gerwen, who is followed by Joe Cullen, Arron Monk, Michael Smith, Tom Martin, Ryan Herrington, Tony Clark and Sean White.

There will also be eight International Qualifiers, with Sweden's Edwin Torbjornsson now unable to compete in Barnsley.

Dutch trio Rico Dera, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Benito van de Pas and Irish pair Martin Heneghan and David Coyne are joined by Australia's Mitchell Clegg, Canada's Bryce Book and Finland's Teemu Harju in travelling to the event.

They are joined by 50 Rileys Qualifiers, who have won through the free-to-enter knockouts held in Rileys Darts Zones around the UK over the past fortnight.

The Rileys Qualifiers include Daniel Ovens, the son of top PDC star Denis Ovens and Alex Harrison, who was also a qualifier for the UK Open earlier this year.

Play in Barnsley will begin with two preliminary round games, as the Last 64 then play down to the final, which will be held in early January at Alexandra Palace.

The event in Barnsley will begin around 5pm on Saturday November 6, subject to any of the competing PDPA members still being involved in that day's Players Championship.

Players must register before 4pm, when the draw will be made. All games will be the best of seven legs, and the final will be the best of 11 legs.
