2025 BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix field confirmed

The 32-player field for the 2025 BOYLE Sports World Grand Prix has been confirmed following the conclusion of the Swiss Darts Trophy.

The 2025 World Grand Prix will take place at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena from October 6-12, as reigning champion Mike De Decker bids to retain the double-start title.

The field of competitors has been finalised following the conclusion of this year’s European Tour event in Basel, with Raymond van Barneveld sealing his qualification in last-gasp fashion.

Van Barneveld needed to reach the quarter-finals on Swiss soil, and the Dutchman was up to the task, overcoming Australian number one Damon Heta and European Champion Ritchie Edhouse en route to reaching the last eight.

The Dutch icon subsequently overhauled two-time runner-up Dave Chisnall, who will miss out on the World Grand Prix for the first time since 2011 following a run of nine straight European Tour defeats.

2023 champion Luke Humphries – the runner-up to De Decker last year – will headline a star-studded field at the World Grand Prix, which features World Champion Luke Littler and six-time winner Michael van Gerwen.

Former champions James Wade, Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price will also be amongst the seeded stars, as world number four Stephen Bunting sets his sights on a maiden title in the East Midlands.

Scottish duo Gary Anderson and Peter Wright – finalists in 2016 and 2018 respectively – have also confirmed their qualification alongside Northern Ireland’s World Cup winner Josh Rock.

Rock’s World Cup partner Daryl Gurney celebrated World Grand Prix glory in 2017, and the 39-year-old clinched his spot in Leicester via the one-year ProTour rankings.

The ProTour rankings were topped by World Youth Champion Gian van Veen, while former finalists Nathan Aspinall and Dirk van Duijvenbode also qualified in convincing style.

Wessel Nijman and Niko Springer will make their double-start debuts after impressing on the European Tour circuit, while De Decker sets his sights on back-to-back wins in Leicester.

2024 semi-finalist Ryan Joyce also confirmed his return this weekend, with two-time finalist Van Barneveld and 2023 UK Open champion Andrew Gilding completing the list of ProTour qualifiers.

Chisnall will be one of several high-profile absentees at this year's World Grand Prix, with 2022/23 World Champion Michael Smith and last year’s semi-finalist Dimitri Van den Bergh also missing out.

The draw for the 2025 World Grand Prix - which will pit the PDC's top 16 against the 16 ProTour representatives - will be made on Monday September 29, and will be available through the PDC’s and BOYLE Sports’ social media channels.

The tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV (excluding subscribers based in the UK, Germany, Austria & Switzerland).
