Fabian Schmutzler secured a spot at the World Championship as he clinched a second PDC Unicorn European Development Tour title.

Gian van Veen secured his second PDC Winmau Development Tour title of the weekend with success in Sunday's Event Ten in Wigan.

The Dutch prospect had claimed Event Eight on Saturday despite an early-morning journey from the Netherlands after competing in the Dutch Darts Masters on the previous day.

Van Veen completed a busy weekend in style with another £2,500 in prize money in an impressive run to the title.

He edged out Event Seven winner Sebastian Bialecki 4-3 in the first round, and after seeing off Rusty-Jake Rodriguez and Alfie Thompson he then overcame Event Six champion Wessel Nijman to reach the quarter-finals.

There, he overcame fellow countryman Jurjen van der Velde 5-1 before producing a sensational 113.86 average in defeating Jarred Cole.

Van Veen then sealed the title by defeating another Dutchman, Bradly Roes, by a 5-1 margin - winning the opening two legs without reply before claiming three more to close out the title.

Former JDC World Junior Champion Roes was appearing in just his second Development Tour final, after picking up seven wins during the event - with a 94 average in his narrow quarter-final win over Jim Moston being his stand-out display.

Germany's Dominik Gruellich reached his second semi-final of the weekend before losing out to Roes, with his fellow countryman David Schlichting amongst Sunday's quarter-finalists.

Luke Littler also reached the Event Ten quarter-finals, and the 16-year-old ends the year's second of six Development Tour weekends at the top of the Order of Merit with £8,900 - sitting £450 clear of Van Veen (£8,450).

The top two players from the final 2023 Development Tour Order of Merit will win a PDC Tour Card for 2024-25 and a place in the 2023/24 World Darts Championship.
