Yuanjun Liu and Xiaochen Zong claimed their second China ProTour titles of 2025 last weekend, as Qingyu Zhan also joined the winner’s circle.
Following the year’s opening treble-header in May, Events 4-6 took place in Shenyang on July 19-20, with Zhan celebrating Event Four success on Saturday.
Zhan, who competed in the PDC World Youth Championship back in 2017, defeated some of China’s biggest darting stars on his way to a landmark victory.
He kicked off his campaign with a 91 average and a 4-3 win over former World Cup of Darts star Lihao Wen, before overcoming Tianxiao Cao and Jizhou Li to reach the last four.
Zhan then converted a 118 checkout to wrap up a 5-3 success against Zong in the semi-finals, while he was forced to defy a spirited comeback from Liu to triumph in the Event Four decider.
His bid for back-to-back titles was halted by Bin Zheng in the Event Five semi-finals, although it was Zong who clinched the title, courtesy of a thumping 5-1 victory.
This was preceded by a 94 average in his semi-final showdown against Liu, while Zong also whitewashed former World Championship qualifier Xicheng Han in the last eight.
However, Liu gained revenge in Sunday’s Event Six, producing legs of 16, 16 and 15 darts to overturn a 4-2 deficit against Zong in a dramatic semi-final tie.
Liu also won through a high-quality quarter-final affair against Wen, before rounding off the weekend’s action with a 5-1 drubbing of rising star Junyu Wang.
Following the conclusion of Event Six, Liu occupies top spot on the China ProTour Rankings, with Zong and Zhan completing the top three.
The China ProTour season will conclude with Events 7-10 on August 22-23, before the second staging of the PDC China Championship takes place on August 24.
The winner of the PDC China Championship will qualify for the PDC Asian Championship and the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, which begins on December 11 this year.
