Clinical Crabtree extends his lead at top of Development Tour rankings

Cam Crabtree (PDC Europe)

Cam Crabtree secured his fourth Winmau Development Tour title of 2025 on Saturday, as Tyler Thorpe celebrated his maiden PDC title in Wigan.

The year’s penultimate weekend of Development Tour action continued with another double-header at the Robin Park Leisure Centre, as a bumper 290-player field went head-to-head in Events 18-19.

Thorpe produced a host of superb performances to celebrate Event 18 glory, producing back-to-back 13-darters to wrap up a 5-3 victory over Sweden’s Viktor Tingstrom in their winner-takes-all showdown.

The 22-year-old kicked off the day with a quartet of 4-1 wins against Killian Heffernan, Rohan Brouwers, Harrison Leigh and Sebastian Bialecki, posting ton-plus averages against Brouwers and Bialecki respectively.

Thorpe then followed up a whitewash win over Joseph Brady with a 5-3 success against Event 16 winner Charlie Manby, before winning through a deciding-leg clash against James Beeton in the semi-finals.

The Norwich-born star had not progressed beyond the last 32 on the Development Tour in 2025, while it was also a memorable day for Oliver Pearce-Burgess, who produced a nine-dart leg during his first round clash against Ben Townley.

Crabtree then took centre stage in Event 19, defeating Poland’s Sebastian Bialecki to extend his lead at the top of the Development Tour rankings.

Crabtree claimed a hat-trick of titles on the previous weekend of Development Tour action back in May, and he continued his fine form to pocket the £2,500 top prize in Wigan.

The 21-year-old breezed through to the last 32 for the loss of a solitary leg, although he survived a scare in his fourth round tie against Xanti Van den Bergh, edging out the Belgian in a last-leg decider.

Following routine wins over Harrison Leigh and Keaton Williams, Crabtree then ran out a 5-3 winner against Ryan Branley in the semi-finals, before defeating Bialecki by the same scoreline to triumph.

Bialecki - a winner on the PDC ProTour in July - overcame Event 17 winner Jamai van den Herik and two-time Women’s World Matchplay champion Beau Greaves in the latter stages of the event, only to be denied by a clinical Crabtree.

Crabtree now boasts a £1,650 lead over Greaves at the top of the Development Tour rankings, with Owen Bates, Charlie Manby and Bialecki making up the current top five.

The top two players from the 2025 Development Tour rankings will each win a PDC Tour Card for 2026-27, while the top three ranked players will earn a place in the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

The 2025 Winmau Development Tour season continues with Event 20 on Sunday, before the final weekend of action takes place at the Robin Park Leisure Centre next month.

The event draws and results are listed in the Match Centre.
