Pusey secures top spot on Australian Darts Association Tour

Tim Pusey will make his Paddy Power World Darts Championship debut later this year, after securing top spot on the inaugural ADA Tour in Victoria last weekend.

The Melton Darts Club played host to the third and final weekend of 2025 Australian Darts Association Tour action, as Events 9-12 took place from September 5-7.

Raymond Smith occupied top spot heading into this weekend, although he was overhauled by an impressive Pusey, who claimed back-to-back titles to snatch top spot.

Brody Klinge and Ben Robb also claimed a share of the spoils in Victoria, with New Zealand’s former World Cup star Robb clinching Event Nine success on Friday.

The five-time World Championship qualifier defeated Pusey 6-3 in the Event Nine showpiece, having earlier won through a trio of deciding-leg ties against Mal Cuming, Brandon Weening and Smith.

Pusey responded by winning back-to-back titles on Saturday, edging out Smith in a pivotal last-leg decider to lift the Event Ten crown.

The 33-year-old produced a remarkable turnaround from 5-1 down to take the title, completing the comeback with a 12-dart break of throw in the decider.

Pusey then conjured up another late fightback in the Event 11 decider, overturning a 4-2 deficit to topple James Bailey and extend his winning run to ten matches.

His bid for a third consecutive title was thwarted by Cuming in the Event 12 quarter-finals, although it was Klinge who rounded off the ADA season with his third title of the campaign.

Klinge overcame Puna Ben, David Marland, Weening and Cuming to set up a showdown against Smith, where he defied a 96 average from the Brisbane star to triumph in a decider.

Despite missing out on top spot on the ADA rankings, Smith has joined Pusey in qualifying for the ANZ Premier League, which begins in Melbourne on October 4.

Simon Whitlock, Joe Comito, Klinge and Bailey will also feature in the eight-player tournament, with the DPNZ ProTour champion and the DPNZ Top 16 Play-Off winner set to complete the field.
