Robb races to ANZ Premier League victory on Night Three in Canberra

Ben Robb (PDC)

Ben Robb produced some scintillating darts to jump to second in the 2025 Dabble Darts ANZ Premier League standings, after beating James Bailey 5-2 to win Night Three in Canberra.

Both players headed into the evening sitting seventh and eighth respectively, but are now right back in the mix, with Robb becoming the third different winner in three weeks - following in the footsteps of fellow Kiwi Jonny Tata and table-topper Raymond Smith.

In the final, five-time World Championship qualifier Robb fired in two 180s on his way to a 5-2 success, which saw him pocket the nightly $2,000 prize in front of a jubilant crowd at the AIS Arena.

"The room with the boys is quality, so coming away with a title is huge," Robb reflected.

"Canberra, thank you guys so much. You're awesome. I was a bit flat at times and there were a few in the crowd that got behind me, so I appreciate it massively.

“This gives me some confidence, gives me a boost for the rest of the competition, so I'm looking forward to it."

Robb started the evening with a scrappy 5-3 win over Tata, before producing the best performance of the ANZ Premier League to date in his 5-1 demolition of Tim Pusey, where he averaged 103.38 and crashed in four 180s.

Bailey, meanwhile, had won just two legs in the opening two weeks, but he made his mark with some impressive displays in Canberra.

The Queenslander began proceedings with a 5-2 win over Brody Klinge, before beating Night Two winner Smith 5-3 in the last four.

"I was hungry tonight. I was really annoyed with my first couple of weeks," Bailey said. "I wanted to really come out and put a show on and try to see what I can do.

"In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, I started well, won my throw and hung in there, so I was happy with that.”

Saturday’s other quarter-final ties saw Pusey beat Joe Comito 5-1, while Smith dispatched Simon Whitlock 5-2 in a repeat of last weekend’s Night Two final.

Smith remains top of the standings on ten points, with Robb in second spot on seven points, while Tata is third on five and Pusey a point adrift in fourth.

The ANZ Premier League action continues next Saturday at the MyState Bank Arena in Hobart, headlined by a top-of-the-table clash between Robb and Smith.
