Tweddell doubles Winmau Challenge Tour title tally in MK

Jack Tweddell (PDC)

Jack Tweddell secured his second Winmau Challenge Tour title following an emphatic 5-1 victory over Steve Lennon in Milton Keynes.

The year’s opening weekend of Winmau Challenge Tour action saw 330 players competing at Arena MK on Sunday, as Tweddell scooped the £2,500 top prize.

The 30-year-old celebrated his maiden Challenge Tour crown last May, and he doubled his title tally with an impressive demolition of Ireland’s former World Cup runner-up Lennon.

Lennon drew first blood in Sunday’s showpiece with a 15-dart hold, only for Tweddell to win the next five legs without reply, rounding off proceedings with successive 130 and 121 checkouts.

The Swindon star kicked off his campaign with comfortable wins over Ronan McDonagh and Belgium’s Brian Raman, before edging past Poland’s former Players Championship winner Radek Szaganski in a decider.

Following a 5-1 thrashing of Willie Borland, Tweddell then halted Joe Hunt’s bid for a third title of the weekend, averaging 99.4 and overturning a 4-3 deficit to prevail in another last-leg shoot-out.

Tweddell continued his charge with a 5-3 win over the veteran Steve Hine in the quarter-finals, before surviving two match darts to deny Jimmy Bristow in a gruelling semi-final clash.

Lennon, meanwhile, conceded just 11 legs in his opening eight matches, overcoming Graham Hall and emerging youngster Henry Coates in the latter stages of the tournament.

Hall was sensational in the opening stages of Sunday’s event, averaging 106.64 and 106.56 to wrap up comprehensive victories over Robbie Martin and Carl Wilson respectively.

The Winmau Challenge Tour season continues in March, as Leicester’s Mattioli Arena plays host to Events 6-10 from March 27-29.

The top two players from the final 2026 Challenge Tour Rankings will secure a PDC Tour Card for 2027/28, with the top three players earning qualification for the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

Hunt occupies top spot following his back-to-back victories over the weekend, with Event Four winner Martijn Dragt in second position, ahead of Tweddell and Lennon respectively.
