Fred Krueger took a big step towards qualification for a Paddy Power World Darts Championship debut as he claimed a third CDC Main Tour title of the year in Chicago.

Krueger shared victories with David Cameron and Alex Spellman as the CDC Main Tour continued in Oakbrook Terrace on September 19-20 in the year's penultimate weekend.

Krueger - who made his TV debut at the US Darts Masters in June - won Saturday's Cosmo Darts Championship to claim a third title of 2026.

The 45-year-old also reached the semi-finals of Saturday's second event - the Winmau Darts Masters - as he jumped above Leonard Gates on the 2026 rankings.

Those results, plus a run to the last 16 in Sunday's DartConnect Challenge, make Krueger the highest placed non-qualified US player in the race for a World Championship place ahead of the year's final three events, which will take place from October 16-18 in St Catharines, Ontario.

CDC Main Tour rankings leader Adam Sevada was the runner-up to Canadian ace Cameron in Saturday's Winmau Darts Masters - with both having qualified already for the World Championship through their respective victories in the North American Darts Championship and Cross-Border Challenge this year.

Sunday's DartConnect challenge saw Spellman - the reigning CDC Continental Cup champion - bounce back from his defeat in the Cosmo Darts Championship to claim a first title of the year, defeating fellow American Doug Boehm in the decider.

Going into the year's final weekend, 23-year-old Brayden Hall remains as the top-ranked non-qualified Canadian star as he bids to secure a World Championship debut in December.

Following the final CDC Main Tour weekend in October, the CDC Continental Cup will conclude the year's action in North America - taking place on November 6-7 in Newfoundland, featuring the top 24 from the 2026 rankings and broadcast live on PDCTV.
