Dolan Takes Ulster Open Title

BRENDAN DOLAN defeated Ronnie Baxter 6-3 to win the non-ranked 2008 Ulster Open on Sunday in Dromore.

Following Felix McBrearty's win in the Ireland Open Classic Players Championship on Saturday, Dolan took the honours in Sunday's event.

He defeated brother John-Joe Dolan in the last 32 with a 5-4 win, repeating that scoreline to see off Denis Ovens in the semis after a 5-1 success over Andy Jenkins in the quarters.

He then defeated Ronnie Baxter 6-3 in the final, with Baxter having hit a ten-darter in seeing off McBrearty in the semis.

The Ulster Open Doubles was won by the pairing of Andy Smith and Mick McGowan (right), who defeated Co Stompe and Tony Eccles 5-2 in the final.
