2009 PDC Calendar

THE PDC can now confirm its 2009 calendar, featuring 127 days of action in its biggest year ever.

With prize money rising to over £5 million on the PDC circuit next year, the Players Championship Finals comes in as a new ranking event.

A total of 32 Players Championship events will be staged and accompanied by eight UK Open Regional Finals, taking the total of PDC Pro Tour events worth £30,000 to 40, with almost all being held on double-header weekends.

The eight Regional Finals for the 2009 Blue Square UK Open will be played from January-May.

The 2009 World Matchplay will be held over eight days, beginning on Sunday July 19 and ending on Sunday July 26.

The qualifiers for the 2009 Las Vegas Desert Classic will be held on Sunday June 28 and Monday 29 June, with the Las Vegas Players Championship taking place on Tuesday June 30 before the televised stages of the Desert Classic begin on Wednesday July 1.

All prize money won in 2007 which is due to come off the Orders of Merit in 2009 will come off on the corresponding two year anniversary regardless of when the corresponding event in 2009 is played.

The main PDC Order of Merit remains a two-year list. The UK Open, Players Championship, Continental Europe and North American Orders of Merit are all one-year lists which start again with all players on £0 from Jan 1 2009.

The Continental Europe Order of Merit will also include, for the first time in 2009, the two Players Championship events held in Gibraltar, while the PDC will make its debut in Austria with two tournaments in September.
