Ally Pally Race In Final Straight

THE Players Championship Qualifiers for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship will be decided in Derby this weekend.

Derby's Moorway's Leisure Centre plays host to the final two Players Championship events of 2010, which will be followed next Monday by the PDPA Qualifier for the World Championship.

The qualifying players for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, which will be held from December 16-January 3 at Alexandra Palace, will be confirmed following Sunday's Players Championship.

The top 32 players from the PDC Order of Merit will be joined in qualifying by the top 16 non-qualified players from the Players Championship Order of Merit, along with four European and two North American qualifiers.

Richie Burnett, who has reached a semi-final and two finals in the past month, is currently the leading Players Championship Order of Merit qualifier as he prepares for his first World Championship since the 2007 event.

Steve Farmer, Justin Pipe, Nigel Heydon, Mark Hylton, Chris Thompson and Joe Cullen are all in line for their debut in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, alongside European newcomers Antonio Alcinas and Bernd Roith.

John Part, the North American Order of Merit leader, currently occupies 32nd place in the PDC Order of Merit, meaning Darin Young and Gary Mawson will qualify to compete at Alexandra Palace.

PDPA members have until 12pm on Wednesday to enter the Players Championships using the PDC Online Entry System.

Entries for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship PDPA Qualifier can be made via the PDPA.

The draw for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship will be made early next week following the PDPA Qualifier. Full details will be confirmed once available.
