Stoke Speedy Hire Qualifiers

PDC Unicorn Youth Tour ace Brandon Walsh and Robbie Green were amongst the eight Speedy Stoke Qualifiers for the Speedy Hire UK Open on Thursday.

Doncaster's Walsh won his place in his first major championship by battling through hundreds of entries on the third day of the Speedy Qualifiers, held at the Speedy Stoke Superstore.

Players initially threw 15 darts in a bid to score one of the 16 highest cumulative totals, before the leading 16 players competed in knockout games to win through to Bolton in June.

Walsh will be joined in Bolton by Merseyside's Robbie Green, who has competed in the UK Open at Bolton on three previous occasions.

The other qualifiers from Stoke included local ace Andy Beardmore, Warrington's Colin Appleton, Oldham's Paul Cartwright, Ellesmere Port's Stuart Daniels, Eccles' John Jackson and Bolton's Kevin Simm.

"Our visit to Stoke was a huge highlight from our week of qualifying events for the Speedy Hire UK Open," said Speedy's group marketing director Steve McIntyre.

"We saw hundreds of fanatics here and a handful of excited winners who we look forward to seeing again at the UK Open at the Reebok Stadium in June."

Friday sees the fourth and final Speedy Qualifier being held at Speedy's Glasgow Superstore, with the final eight places in the UK Open being won by amateur players.
