World Matchplay Tickets Boost

THE majority of tickets for next month's World Matchplay in Blackpool have now sold out, as the Winter Gardens prepares to welcome back the summer spectacular.

The World Matchplay will be held from July 16-24 in the Empress Ballroom at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

Featuring 32 players competing for £400,000 in prize money, the World Matchplay has become a favourite with players and fans alike since its inception in 1994.

That trend has continued this year, with the majority of tickets for the tournament now sold.

The opening night on Saturday July 16, as well as the evening session of the quarter-finals on Friday July 22 and the semi-finals on Saturday July 23 are all now sold out.

There are also only standing tickets remaining on Thursday July 21, the afternoon session of the quarter-finals on Friday July 22 and for the final on Sunday July 24.

The world's top 16 players will be joined in the World Matchplay by the leading 16 qualifiers from the Players Championship Order of Merit following the events in Nuland on June 18 and 19.

The qualifiers are currently headed by John Part, the 2002 and 2005 World Matchplay runner-up, as well as potential Blackpool debutants Justin Pipe, John Henderson, Scott Rand, Mark Hylton and Antonio Alcinas.

Tickets are available in person from the Winter Gardens Box Office or via Ticketmaster on 0844 856 11 11.
