Anderson In Bullish Mood

GARY ANDERSON admits he is 'not scared of anybody' as he prepares for the Sky Bet Mobile World Matchplay.

The Scot will compete for a third time at the Winter Gardens in this year's World Matchplay, having picked up his maiden PDC major title recently with his victory over Adrian Lewis in the Premier League Darts final.

That success followed his runs to the finals of the 2010 UK Open and the 2011 World Championship and Players Championship Finals, as Anderson confirmed his status amongst the world's elite.

Although he lost out to Paul Nicholson in the UK Open last month, Anderson responded with back-to-back Players Championship victories in Holland and insists he will be in confident mood when he faces Andy Hamilton in his opener in Blackpool on Tuesday July 19.

"Andy's a great player," said Anderson. "He's been struggling a bit recently but that doesn't matter one bit when we get to Blackpool.

"Everyone can get back to form in one match and if it happens for him on that night in Blackpool then you could be in trouble, but I just take each game as it comes.

"But if I play my darts well enough, I'm not scared of anybody. I've always said the only person I'm scared of myself. If my head's right and the darts are going right, then I'll be fine."

Anderson has been defeated in the second round in Blackpool in his two previous appearances in the World Matchplay, but he is looking forward to returning to the Winter Gardens.

"It's a lovely venue and I've had lots of good support there in the last couple of years," said Anderson.

"You get a lot of Scottish people who are on holiday coming to watch, and hopefully I can give them plenty to cheer this year."

Tickets for some sessions of the Sky Bet Mobile World Matchplay are still available in person from the Winter Gardens Box Office or via Ticketmaster on 0844 856 11 11.
