UK Open Third Round Draw

PHIL TAYLOR will begin his challenge in the Speedy Services UK Open against 2004 winner Roland Scholten on Friday night, while reigning champion James Wade drew Colin Lloyd in another tasty clash in Bolton.

Wade was amongst 32 players to progress from Thursday's opening rounds in the Premier Suite at the De Vere Whites Hotel in Bolton, edging out Stephen Bunting 4-3 in their second round game.

He will now take on former World Matchplay winner and world number one Lloyd on the main stage in Friday's third round.

The night will also feature the clash between four-time champion Taylor and Dutch star Scholten, who won the event eight years ago and was the victim of a Taylor nine-dart finish in the 2005 semi-finals.

The tournament's only other previous winner, 2006 and 2007 champion Raymond van Barneveld, will begin his challenge in an all-Dutch affair with Jelle Klaasen.

Gary Anderson will open up the third round action on the main stage in Bolton when he meets amateur qualifier David Dodds, who won three matches on Thursday night to progress to the last 64.

World Champion Adrian Lewis drew Kevin McDine, last year's UK Open runner-up Wes Newton plays Manchester's emerging Shaun Griffiths and Terry Jenkins plays James Hubbard, the new PDC Unicorn World Youth Champion.

Mark Webster - a semi-finalist last year who edged past Johnny Haines 4-3 in the secon round - will play Scotland's Robert Thornton, three-time World Champion John Part meets colourful Peter Wright and Kevin Painter plays Arron Monk in a repeat of their clash in the World Championship six months ago.

2007 finalist Vincent van der Voort will play amateur Paul Amos, Paul Nicholson drew Northern Ireland's Michael Mansell, and Mervyn King's reward for his win over Ted Hankey is a clash with newcomer Gareth Cousins.

Emerging South African Devon Petersen plays Blackpool's Ronnie Baxter, while Dean Winstanley will make his UK Open debut against Jason Crawley, the Hampshire youngster who had been joined by his father Bob in the early rounds on Thursday.

St Helens' Dave Chisnall plays Welsh amateur Mark Layton, Andy Hamilton meets Essex newcomer Richie Howson and Holland's Michael van Gerwen plays Irish ace William O'Connor.
