European Tour 4 UK Qualifier

IAN WHITE, Dean Winstanley, Arron Monk, James Richardson and Mark Dudbridge were amongst the 20 players who won places in the German Darts Classic European Tour event in September at Friday night's UK Qualifier.

Stoke's White followed up his run to the last 16 of the Betfair World Matchplay last week by defeating Dennis Smith and Ted Hankey to earn a spot in the £82,100 event, which will be held in Stuttgart from September 7-9.

Winstanley defeated Matt Clark 6-2 to earn his place in a third successive European Tour event, as he continues his impressive debut season in the PDC ranks.

Fellow Tour Card winners Stuart Kellett, Tony West and Andrew Gilding also won through to play in Stuttgart, with the latter dropping only one leg in wins over Johnny Haines and Barrie Bates.

Former World Youth champion Monk defeated Paul Rowley 6-3 to earn himself a place in the event, with another young prospect, Wales' Jamie Lewis, overcoming John Scott and Michael Barnard to qualify.

Hull youngster Reece Robinson also won through, impressing with a whitewash of Dave Ladley and a 6-3 win over Scott Rand as he bids to follow up his success in reaching the last 32 of the second European Tour event in Berlin, where he played Phil Taylor.

2005 World Championship finalist Dudbridge defeated Shaun Griffiths to win through to Stuttgart, although there was disappointment for his Bristol rival Steve Brown, who lost out to Mark Forman 6-5, with the newcomer then being defeated 6-3 by York's Terry Temple.

Darren Webster overcame Keith Stephen and Alex Roy to qualify, with Michael Mansell seeing off Prakash Jiwa, Andy Jenkins defeating Andy Relf and Mark Jones and Darren Johnson knocking out Mick Todd and Darren Whittingham to join them in the main event.

James Richardson, who was a quarter-finalist in the first European Tour event in Austria in April, saw off Ross Smith to earn his place in Germany,

Nigel Heydon battled past Brandon Walsh and Gary Butcher to qualify, with Nick Fullwell defeating Gaz Cousins and John Henderson and Tony Littleton edging out Matthew Edgar.

Peter Hudson dropped only three legs in his wins over Steve Hine and Steve West, while Ireland's William O'Connor also qualified in style by defeating John Bowles and Chris Aubrey.

The field for the German Darts Classic will be completed following the Home Nation Qualifier and European Qualifier to be held in Germany this weekend, with a further 12 places in the main tournament on offer.

The draw is expected to be made on Sunday once the qualifiers have been completed, with the 32 Qualifiers drawn against the top 32 players from the PDC Order of Merit who entered for the first round draw.

The fourth European Tour event, the German Darts Masters, will be held at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen, Stuttgart from September 7-9.
