MICHAEL SMITH produced an excellent display of darts to claim Event 15 of the 2012 PDC Unicorn Youth Tour, culminating in a 4-0 victory against Lee Whitworth.
The St Helens youngster began the day by defeating William Robbins and Ryan Sullivan before edging out Jamie Lewis 4-3, gaining revenge for his loss to the Welshman in the final of Saturday's first event.
Smith then won his next three matches with relative comfort as he dispatched Kurt Parry, Ryan De Vreede and Josh Payne all by 4-1 margins to progress to his fifth Youth Tour final of the year.
The 21-year-old, who also tasted victory on the PDC Pro Tour back in January, won the event in clinical fashion as he thumped Lee Whitworth 4-0, to claim his third triumph on the 2012 PDC Unicorn Youth Tour.
Whitworth, who hails from Manchester and is the son of former PDC professional Paul, began his run to a first ever final by securing a trio of 4-1 wins against Joshua Richardson, Ben Songhurst and Lewis Venes to reach the last eight.
The 20-year-old then edged out Josh McCarthy 4-3 before securing a notable win against former World Youth Champion Arron Monk by the same scoreline to reach the final.
The final hurdle proved to be too much for Whitworth, as he ran into the force of Smith, but still walked away with the £300 runner-up prize.
Semi-finalists Payne and Monk added £200 to their totals on the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour Order of Merit, whilst De Vreede, Ryan Herrington, James Hubbard and McCarthy all reached the quarter-finals, claiming cheques of £100 for their efforts.
The next PDC Unicorn Youth Tour weekend will take place at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan on 29-30 September, where players will contest three events, all worth £3,000 in prize money.
