ADRIAN LEWIS, James Wade and Simon Whitlock turned on the style as they booked places in the third round of the German Darts Masters European Tour event on Saturday in Sindelfingen.
Both Lewis and Wade averaged over 103 in their respective wins over Peter Hudson and Steve Beaton as they booked places in the Last 16 of the £82,100 event, which will conclude at the Glaspalast on Sunday.
World Champion Lewis hit four 180s and a 124 finish in taking six successive legs to see off Hudson 6-1, as he improved on Friday's first round win over Darren Johnson with a strong performance.
"Last night wasn't my best performance but this was more like how I know I can play," said the world number two, who brought a 2,500 crowd to their feet with his display.
"I'm delighted to have played so well in front of such a great crowd because I've wanted to show the German fans this kind of form for a while. Hopefully I will keep it up on Sunday and go all the way."
World number three Wade posted six 180s in a heavy-scoring contest with Beaton, who landed four maximums and a 171 in reply but went down 6-4 as the left-hander progressed to a third round date with Nigel Heydon, who knocked out Mark Walsh 6-2.
Whitlock, meanwhile, hit a ten-dart finish on his way to a 6-3 win over Sweden's Magnus Caris, and he now takes on Wolverhampton's Wayne Jones, who defeated William O'Connor by the same scoreline earlier on Saturday.
Five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld swept past Colin Osborne with a 6-1 victory, and now plays the tournament's remaining German hope, Andree Welge, who had booked his place in the third round with a 6-4 win over Brendan Dolan.
"It will be a good game and it's great for German darts that Andree's still in the competition," said van Barneveld.
"I'm happy with my scoring but Colin missed a lot of doubles tonight and that let me in. The game was closer than the scoreline suggests but you have to hit your doubles. "
Two other Dutchmen joined van Barneveld in the third round, but Vincent van der Voort and 23-year-old Jerry Hendriks will now face each other following their wins over Stuart Kellett and Andy Jenkins.
Terry Jenkins overcame Richie Burnett 6-4 in a see-saw contest to win his place in Sunday's final stages, and he now plays Tony West after the former World Masters winner hit six 180s in his 6-4 win over Yorkshireman Terry Temple.
Number four seed Wes Newton and Speedy Services UK Open champion Robert Thornton will clash in another tasty fixture after the pair showed good form in wins over James Richardson and Arron Monk respectively on Saturday.
Northern Ireland's Michael Mansell won through to take on Lewis with a 6-2 win over Paul Nicholson as he followed up Friday's defeat of Mervyn King with another strong showing.
Stoke pair Andy Hamilton and Ian White also moved into the third round, with Hamilton seeing off Tony Littleton 6-3 and White defeating Kim Huybrechts 6-5 in a close contest, which saw the Belgian miss a dart at the bull to win the deciding leg.
The third round games will be played in the afternoon session at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen, with the quarter-finals, semi-final and final then taking place in the evening as the winner £15,000 first prize is decided.

WES NEWTON and Terry Jenkins were amongst the stars to book their places in the last 16 of the German Darts Masters on Saturday afternoon as the opening eight second round games took place at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen.
Number four seed Newton impressed with a 6-4 win over James Richardson, doing much of the damage early on by winning the first four legs without reply.
"I got off to a good start," admitted. "Maybe I relaxed a little bit, and James did well to come back at me and he made me a bit nervous at the end there."
Jenkins, meanwhile, won a see-saw battle with Welsh ace Richie Burnett, who led twice only for the seven-time major finalist to take the game's final three legs without reply as he sealed the win with a 106 finish.
Dutchman Vincent van der Voort came from 3-1 down to take a narrow 6-5 win over Stuart Kellett, hitting five 180s in the process as he earned a third round spot.
He will now take on fellow countryman Jerry Hendriks in the Last 16, after the 23-year-old defeated Andy Jenkins 6-1 win a fine display.
German ace Andree Welge kept home hopes alive with a 6-4 win over Brendan Dolan, for whom a 164 finish was not enough, while Wayne Jones overcame Irishman Willie O'Connor 6-3 and Tony West impressed with six 180s in his 6-4 defeat of Terry Temple.
Nigel Heydon was the afternoon's other winner with his 6-2 defeat of Mark Walsh, who impressed by hitting the afternoon's highest three-dart average of 100.45.

5-4 - The high standard continues, with both players trading 180s before Wade misses the bull for an 85 finish for the match and Beaton coolly takes out 102 on double 16 to stay in the contest.
6-4 - Wade - opening the leg with two 140s to maintain an average above 105 - is first to a finish, missing three darts at tops but returning to finish double ten for the win.
