Anderson Wins Oceanic Masters

KYLE ANDERSON has won the DPA Oceanic Masters to earn himself a Ladbrokes World Darts Championship spot.

The Rockhampton ace defeated Tic Bridge 8-3 in the final of the prestigious event on Sunday, as the final weekend of the DartPlayers Australia season concluded - as he followed up his win in the AGP event 24 hours earlier with another triumph.

Anderson, 25, began the knockout phase of the tournament by defeating Craig Kemp and Mick McCreedie without dropping a leg before edging out Russell Stewart 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

He was pushed all the way in the semi-finals by Gordon Mathers, Friday's AGP event winner and Saturday's runner-up who this time lost out 7-6 to Anderson.

In the final, Anderson led 2-0 before Bridge hit back to level at two all before the Queenslander took the next four legs, including an 11-dart finish, to lead 6-2.

Bridge finished 126 on the bull to win the ninth, but Anderson won the next two to claim the title and win a spot in the first round of the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship in December alongside AGP Order of Merit winner Shane Tichowitsch.

Bridge defeated Sean Reed 7-4 in the semi-finals to end the latter's chances of winning through to Alexandra Palace for the second successive year, while Bill Aitken, Darren Kirk and Craig Gwynne joined Stewart in the last eight.

Anderson is a former WDF World Youth Cup winner and also won the Japan Open in 2010, while he has previously competed in England at the World Masters.
