Hamilton Chasing Worlds Glory

ANDY HAMILTON is hoping to go one better than last year and take glory in the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship.

The Stoke ace enjoyed the best fortnight of his career at Alexandra Palace 12 months ago, when he battled his way into the final.

Although he went on to lose to Adrian Lewis 7-3, Hamilton has since competed in the McCoy's Premier League Darts - where he reached the semi-finals in his debut season - and reached at least the quarter-finals of all but one of the televised majors during 2012.

"It was a great performance last time and to get to that final was a great thing to happen for me in my life," Hamilton - who plays James Richardson in his opening game - told sportinglife.com.

"It's disappointing that I didn't win it so hopefully this year I can get to the final again and then who knows what will happen.

"The form's good at the moment and I'm playing solid, so there's no reason I can't do the same as last year and then go one step further.

"It's everybody's aim, and for me because of the experience of last year, I need to win the final to prove just how good I am for myself and my fans."
