Merry Christmas!

THERE has been ten days of festive cheer so far at the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship, but we'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our fans worldwide a Merry Christmas!

The three-day break for Christmas will see the 14 players who are still in the hunt for the World Championship title practising alongside enjoying their turkey dinners and opening presents today.

Reigning World Champion Adrian Lewis, enjoying his first Christmas with recent newborn baby boy Matthew, said: "I hope all darts fans and fellow players have a great Christmas.

"I'm really looking forward to Christmas but I'll be putting in a few hours on Christmas to get myself ready to play Kevin Painter on Thursday.

"The support from fans this year has been amazing and it's been a great World Championship so far."

2010 World Championship runner-up Simon Whitlock, meanwhile, had a special message for fans following the tournament in his native Australia.

"I've had so many messages of support from Australia recently and hopefully everyone over there is enjoying their Christmas," said Whitlock.

"I'm still getting used to spending Christmas in the British winter but I'm sure there'll be plenty of barbecues going on back home to celebrate!"

Sky Sports subscribers in the UK can also watch a special tribute to Sid Waddell on Sky Sports News throughout Christmas Day.

The Ladbrokes World Darts Championship will resume on Thursday December 27, when the remaining six games from the third round take place at Alexandra Palace.
