THE schedule of events on the 2013 SDC ProTour circuit across Scandinavia have been confirmed - with the additional reward of a place in the PartyPoker.net European Championship on offer this year.
Following the success of the inaugural season on the SDC ProTour in 2012, eight events will be held this year across four double-header weekends, with a total of €40,000 in prize money on offer.
The events will be held in Vaasky in Finland, Stockholm in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark, with the final weekend of the season culminating in a Play-Off for players ranked 2-9 on the Order of Merit for the right to join the Order of Merit winner in qualifying for the Ladbrokes World Championship.
Last year's SDC Order of Merit winner Jarkko Komula received a place in the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship and earned a PDC Tour Card for 2013, while second-placed Jani Haavisto also competed at Alexandra Palace.
Haavisto defeated Komula after they were drawn together in the preliminary round and impressed in the first round, and has since won a PDC Tour Card at Qualifying School recently to give himself the chance to compete on the PDC circuit.
The pair also went on to reach the semi-finals at the Betfair World Cup of Darts, with Sweden's Magnus Caris and Par Riihonen and Danish duo Per Laursen and Jann Hoffmann also competing in the Hamburg event.
In a further boost for the Scandinavian game, the SDC Order of Merit leader following four events will qualify to compete in the PartyPoker.net European Championship in Germany from July 4-7.
The player will join the PDC's top 16, the leading eight non-qualified players from the ProTour Order of Merit and seven European Order of Merit qualifiers in making up the 32-player field for the European Championship.
SDC ProTour events allow players from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Alan Islands, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and new territories Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia to compete, with entry costing €30 per tournament.
