Whitlock Chasing Premier League Revenge!

SIMON WHITLOCK is bidding to gain revenge on his McCoy's Premier League Darts rivals as he targets a Play-Off place next month.

The Australian star entered the second phase of the season in eighth place after avoiding elimination on Judgement Night when Wes Newton and Gary Anderson were defeated.

However, he jumped above Adrian Lewis following a fine 7-4 victory over Robert Thornton in Sheffield on Thursday, avenging a 7-1 rout by the Scot in Glasgow when the UK Open champion produced one of his best-ever displays.

Whitlock will also get the chance to gain revenge over Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, Andy Hamilton and Michael van Gerwen for defeats earlier in the McCoy's Premier League season as the stars battle for Play-Off places in the coming month.

"To get through was a big relief and I was a bit lucky in the end," said Whitlock, in an interview for the OfficialPDC YouTube page. "I think I've played pretty well and been consistent overall.

"It's not much fun sitting down at the bottom of the table so I'm very grateful for the two points.

"I said to myself to relax, I've got nothing to lose, put everything into it and I did. I was fortunate that Robert missed a few doubles to be honest.

"I've set myself a target of so many points to get in the second half [of the season] and that's what I'm going to try and do. If I didn't believe in myself, I wouldn't play.

"It's all paybacks now - the players who beat me before, I'm going to try and get them back now!"
