Speedy Discover Scottish Amateur Qualifiers

THE first eight Speedy Amateur Qualifiers for June's Speedy Services UK Open have been found at their Scottish Qualifier.

Over 110 players travelled to Glasgow's famous Hampden Park for Monday's first of four Speedy Qualifiers.

The players initially threw 15 darts in a bid to hit one of the highest 16 cumulative scores, before the top 16 then played off over the best of three legs to find the eight Speedy Amateur Qualifiers from Scotland who will progress to play in Bolton in June.

Gus Santana was the leading scorer after notching 580 points from his 15 darts, with Andy Murray (542), Gary Stone (527) and Jamie Hagen (525) also breaking the 500-point barrier.

The other 12 players in the top 16 all scored 410 points or more with their 15 darts in a high-quality start to the Speedy Qualifiers.

Santana, a Speedy Qualifier for last year's UK Open, won his game with a 2-0 defeat of another former qualifier, Paul Whitworth.

Murray, Stone and Hagen also qualified for Bolton, alongside two other former Amateur Qualifiers, Andy Boulton and Scott Robertson, with Tam Dymond and ANdrew McNicol also winning through.

The second Speedy Amateur Qualifier will be held on Wednesday April 17 at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, with further Speedy Qualifiers being played at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall (April 22) and Alexandra Palace in London (April 24)
