THE field of players for the European Open event to be held in Dusseldorf from May 17-19 has been confirmed, and includes 2012 winner Raymond van Barneveld, World Champion Phil Taylor and top seed Michael van Gerwen.
The 64-player, £100,000 European Tour event will be held across three days at the Maritim Hotel in Dusseldorf, with the top 32 players from the One-Year ProTour Order of Merit joined by a series of qualifiers in the main event.
In-form Dutch star van Gerwen will be the number one seed following his amazing run of success in the last year, while Simon Whitlock, Dave Chisnall, Wes Newton and Robert Thornton are other high seeds.
Raymond van Barneveld, who won last year's European Open in Dusseldorf, is the number six seed, while world number one Phil Taylor, two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis and seven-time major winner James Wade are also in the field.
The 32 automatic qualifiers will be joined by 32 qualifiers in the first round of the European Open.
The UK Qualifier, to be held on Friday April 26 in Wigan, will see 106 entrants competing for 20 places in the tournament, while eight European Qualifiers and four Home Nation Qualifiers will be found on Thursday May 16 following knockouts to be held at the Maritim Hotel.
