Hamilton In Last Chance Saloon

ANDY HAMILTON admits he is in last chance saloon as he bids to keep his slim McCoy's Premier League Darts hopes alive in Liverpool on Thursday.

Hamilton, a semi-finalist in his debut Premier League season in 2012, sits six points adrift of fourth-placed James Wade with just two league nights remaining this year.

The Stoke ace takes on Wade and current league leader Michael van Gerwen at the Echo Arena on Thursday before playing Adrian Lewis in Newcastle next week - and would need to win all three games plus for Wade and Robert Thornton to lose their remaining matches if he is to have any hope of qualifying for the Play-Offs.

While that situation is unlikely, Hamilton said: "I'll be giving it my everything and I'll fight until the last dart goes in.

"I've not performed for the last couple of weeks and I deserved what I've got, but I'm going to keep fighting.

"It's going to be hard to turn it around but games against Michael and James will bring the best out of me - they've got to!

"Having been in the semi-finals last year, the chance to be there again is driving me on but I know it's going to be even harder to get there now.

"Last year the table was a lot closer and this year the top four or five have pulled away from the bottom three."

Hamilton had begun this season as the 11/8 favourite to be relegated after nine weeks with Coral, the official betting partner of the McCoy's Premier League - and is pleased that he proved the doubters wrong.

"I'm still in the Premier League and it's week 13," he said. "The best thing is that I wasn't in the bottom two, so I've proved I'm still a fighter because I'm in the top eight - I'm not finished yet, anyway.

"I'm looking forward to this week, but whether I will win again is another thing. I'll just keep fighting."
