STEVE BEATON, Joe Cullen, Kevin McDine and Alan Tabern were amongst the 20 UK Qualifiers for the Austrian Darts Open event in Friday's knockout at the Robin Park Tennis Centre.

Former World Champion Beaton defeated veterans Steve Maish and Denis Ovens to earn his spot in the £100,000 event, which will be held from May 31-June 2 at the Arena Nova in Wiener Neustadt.

Kevin McDine and Terry Temple, who qualified last week for this month's European Darts Open, made it a double as they booked their Austrian spots, with McDine overcoming Sam Hill and Adrian Gray and Temple taking the notable scalps of Ted Hankey and Michael Smith.

Kevin Dowling won his place in a third successive European Tour event with a comeback win over Matt Edgar in their decider, after knocking out James Richardson in round one.

Swindon veteran Dennis Smith defeated William O'Connor and Shaun Griffiths as he also enjoyed success in qualifying for a second European Tour event of the month.

Northern Ireland's Campbell Jackson also qualified for his first European Tour event, defeating Steve Brown and Matthew Dicken, while Bolton's Joe Murnan saw off Dave Ladley and James Hubbard to qualify.

Norfolk's Darren Webster defeated John Scott and Dean Winstanley as he progressed, and Widnes' John Bowles edged out youngster Chris Aubrey in a deciding leg as he won through.
