Thornton Playing For Scottish Pride

ROBERT THORNTON is prepared to launch a lone Scottish assault on The Masters in Edinburgh next month.

The 2012 UK Open champion is currently the only Scot inside the world's top 16, who will compete in the new ITV-televised event from November 1-3 at the Royal Highland Centre.

While Gary Anderson and Peter Wright could still force their way into the world's top 16 before the cut-off after the ProTour weekend in Killarney later in October, Thornton is preparing to go into battle for his nation's darting honour!

"I'm so looking forward to The Masters in Edinburgh and playing in front of a patriotic home crowd," said Thornton, who posed in a "Robert The Bruce" style outfit at Edinburgh Castle this week.

"We all know how much Scots love their darts so I'd encourage fans to snap up tickets quickly for the unique chance to see the world's top 16 doing what they do best.

"I'm very proud of my career achievements so far but winning a tournament like this in Scotland would top the lot.

"I'm full of respect for my peers but at the same time I have nothing to fear and I know that if I play to my full potential I can send anyone homeward to think again."

The Masters will be held at the Royal Highland Centre from November 1-3, featuring the world’s top 16 players. Tickets are available now from pdc.seetickets.com or by calling 0844 871 8807.
