Ladbrokes World Championship Update

THE Ladbrokes World Darts Championship resumes on Friday, with the final game from the second round to be played before the third round kicks off at Alexandra Palace.

The clash between number 11 seed Justin Pipe and South African Masters champion Devon Petersen will kick off the post-Christmas action in the final game of the second round.

The third round then kicks off with two games in the afternoon session, with the meeting of the players seeded eight and nine, Wes Newton and Robert Thornton, followed by the clash between Richie Burnett and Ian White.

The evening session features former finalists Simon Whitlock and Kevin Painter, World Youth Champion Michael Smith - who knocked out reigning World Champion Phil Taylor in round two - taking on Peter Wright and the meeting of former World Champions Mark Webster and Raymond van Barneveld.

The third round concludes with the final three games on Saturday afternoon, with the quarter-finals split across Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Monday sees the semi-finals played at Alexandra Palace, with no play on New Year's Eve before the final is held on Wednesday January 1 2014.
