A FURTHER four players have been invited to the 2014 SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts, with winners of European Tour events qualifying to compete in Wolverhampton next month.
The original invitations for in the cross-code event - which features major finalists from the PDC circuit and Lakeside Championship across a two-year period - had seen 25 players qualify for the 2014 Grand Slam of Darts.
With the partypoker.com World Grand Prix final featuring two players who had already secured places in November's Grand Slam of Darts - Michael van Gerwen and James Wade - there are just two major TV events remaining for other players to win Wolverhampton spots.
The PDC Board of Directors have now invited a further four players to compete in the 2014 Grand Slam of Darts as the champions of the PDC's European Tour events which have been held during 2014, with Gary Anderson, Vincent van der Voort, Mervyn King and Michael Smith rewarded for their success in the £100,000, internet-streamed tournaments.
Anderson is a former Grand Slam of Darts finalist, while van der Voort, King and Smith have also previously competed on the Wolves Civic stage during the seven-year history of the event.
Should no other players qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts from the forthcoming European Championship and The Unibet Masters, three places will now be on offer in the Wildcard Qualifier in Wigan on Monday November 3.
Entry to the SINGHA Beer Grand Slam of Darts Wildcard Qualifier is open to ANY darts player and can be made through the PDC Online Entry System, with entry limited to the first 256 players.
