Hon Claims Alexandra Palace Place

ALEX HON has won the Greater China Qualifier for the William Hill World Darts Championship.

Hon was the runner-up to Scott Mackenzie in the event three years ago, but this time went all the way as he came through the knockout for players from mainland China and Hong Kong.

Hong Kong's Hon overcame Yin Deng - who represented China in the PDC World Cup of Darts this year - in the semi-finals before edging out Yuanjun Liu 5-3 in the final, with missed doubles in two legs costing Liu in the final outcome.

Top Hong Kong ace Ting Chi Royden Lam, last year's Greater China Qualifier, was a semi-final loser as he missed out on a return to Alexandra Palace.
