THE field for the 2016 BetVictor World Matchplay has been confirmed following the Players Championship double-header in Barnsley - with Robbie Green snatching qualification on the final day before the cut-off for the prestigious Sky Sports-televised event.
A 32-player field will compete in the BetVictor World Matchplay from July 16-24 at Blackpool's Winter Gardens, with the top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit joined by 16 qualifiers from the One-Year ProTour Order of Merit.
Wallasey's Green will make his second World Matchplay appearance - 12 years after losing out 10-7 to Bob Anderson in the 2004 first round - after he reached the quarter-finals of Sunday's Players Championship 11 to move above Rowby-John Rodriguez into the final qualifying spot.
World Championship quarter-finalist Alan Norris heads a trio of World Matchplay debutants who have qualified through the ProTour Order of Merit following their performances in the last 12 months.
Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney and Kent youngster Josh Payne - who won his maiden Players Championship in April - will also make their Blackpool debuts, with Australia's emerging Kyle Anderson set to compete in Blackpool for a second successive year.
Reigning champion Michael van Gerwen heads the 16 seeded players, with Gary Anderson seeded second, 15-time winner Phil Taylor seeded third and Adrian Lewis the fourth seed.
James Wade, the only other previous World Matchplay champion in the field, is the sixth seed, while Dutch ace Vincent van der Voort held on to 16th place on the PDC Order of Merit to secure his seeded place.
The draw for the BetVictor World Matchplay will be made on Thursday July 7 around 9.45am on Sky Sports News.
