FORMER Olympic decathlete Dean Macey emerged victorious against PDC Chairman Barry Hearn, former world number one Rod Harrington and current stars including James Wade in the annual Haven House Charity Fishing Day.
The PDC Charity Fishing Chamionship was held for a fourth time on Sunday July 10, taking places at Manor Farm Fishing in Bedfordshire.
World number six Wade - along with wife Sammi - joined PDC Chairman Barry Hearn and Director Rod Harrington amongst the star-studded field for this year's event, alongside fellow players Darren Webster, Steve Brown, Richie Howson and Jason Lovett and walk-on girls Daniella Allfree and Charlotte Wood.
Former players Chris Mason and Bobby George also took part, alongside celebrities including comedian Ricky Grover, boxing's Anthony Crolla, Spencer Oliver, Nicky Cook and Paul Smith Jnr and snooker's Steve Davis and Ian McCullough.
However, it was Essex's former Commonwealth Games gold medalist Macey who took victory, landing 27lb 4oz of fish, ahead of darts ace Lovett (24lb 15oz), with Angler's Mail columnist Steve Collett third with 24lb and keen fisherman Howson fourth with 23lb 4oz.
"Winning was a bonus," said Macey. "The best part of the day was helping raise money for a great charity and spending time with such inspiring and friendly people."
