Chino Pockets World Championship Place

MASUMI CHINO will represent Japan at the William Hill World Darts Championship after winning the annual PDJ Qualifier with a 6-4 defeat of Yuya Akutsu in the final.

Chino has competed for the past two years in the Japan Darts Masters, where he has taken on both Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen, and will now get his chance on the sport's biggest stage at Alexandra Palace in December.

With the year's earlier rounds resulting in 12 players progressing to compete at the Ryogoku KFC Hall in the final stages, Chino defeated Kazuki Hagene and Chikara Fujimori for the loss of only three legs has he reached the final against Akutsu.

The opening four legs went with throw before Chino broke in the fifth with a 13-dart finish and then moved 4-2 up.

Akutsu took out 36 and 70 to level, but another break for Chino, as he finished 61, moved him 5-4 up before he closed out the win.

Fujimori and Seigo Asada, who have also competed in the Japan Darts Masters, were semi-finalists, with last year's World Championship qualifier Keita Ono losing out to Asada in the quarter-finals.
