Aussie Win For Tichowitsch

SHANE TICHOWITSCH took victory over Mitchell Clegg in the final of Saturday's Coogee Bay Hotel Classic.

Tichowitsch claimed the latest $1,000 title on the DPA's Australian Grand Prix circuit with some fine darts in Sydney.

Having won through to the last 16, he whitewashed Dean McGladdery, defeated former Oceanic Masters winner Barry Jouannet 6-1 and then overcame 2007 Grand Slam of Darts star Pat Orreal 6-4 in the semis.

In the final, he handed a 6-2 defeat to young star Mitchell Clegg, the 2006 Oceanic Masters winner, to claim the title.

Clegg produced some fine darts on the day, including a 6-1 semi-final win over Rod Crawford.
