Dudbridge Presses Title Claims!

MARK DUDBRIDGE has revealed that an exercise routine between sets helped to spark Thursday's incredible comeback against Kevin Painter.

Dudbridge came from two sets down to book a date with Phil Taylor in the quarter-finals of the Sky Bet World Grand Prix on Thursday night.

He revealed that, during the interval after the second set, performing press-ups back-stage helped to bring his challenge back to life.

"I felt dead and buried (at 2-0) but I went out the back in the break and did ten press ups," revealed Dudbridge.

"Sometimes it makes you stronger and brings your arm in tight.

"It seems to work for me, it has done before, and I came out firing."

Dudbridge included a run of winning seven out of nine legs on his way to the victory, and his heavy scoring helped to see off a determined Painter.

"I've never had a comeback on television before and I felt down and out," said Dudbridge, about going 2-0 down.

"I was probably thinking about what I would say to Kevin to wish him well in the next round.

"It usually goes the wrong way in those situations because Kevin was playing well, but I fought back.

"He probably played a better game than me, he was more solid and he played a professional game, when sometimes I looked an amateur at times.

"But I showed my class at the end and came back quite well."

Dudbridge will now take on five-time World Grand Prix champion Phil Taylor in Friday's quarter-finals, and he said: "It's excellent.

"Phil's the best player who has ever lived and I can't wait."
