Heta & Cadby Win World Series Spots

THE DPA Australasian Championship weekend in Dubbo has seen Damon Heta win a place in next month's Auckland Darts Masters and youngster Corey Cadby qualify for August's Ladbrokes Sydney Darts Masters.

The seven-day festival of DPA tournaments in at the Macquarie Inn in Dubbo, New South Wales, saw players from across the Oceanic region competing, with the culmination being the DPA Australian Open and DPA Australian Singles tournaments.

Perth-based Heta, who previously competed in the 2014 Sydney Darts Masters, won the DPA Australian Singles title by defeating Melbourne-based John Weber 6-1 in the final and also overcoming Cody Harris - who will represent New Zealand in the Betway World Cup of Darts - in the last four.

Heta will now make his second appearance on the PDC's World Series of Darts circuit when he competes in the Auckland Darts Masters from June 17-19 at the Trusts Arena.

Heta is the latest of the Oceanic qualifiers to seal their place, alongside DPNZ top two Harris and Warren Parry, Rob Szabo - the top-ranked non-qualified DPNZ player at May 30 - and four players who will win through the DPNZ Qualifiers at Swanson from June 11-14.

Emerging Australian star Cadby, meanwhile, finally secured his place in a first World Series of Darts event at August's Ladbrokes Sydney Darts Masters by taking victory in the DPA Australian Open.

Having been knocked out of the DPA Australian Singles by Harris, he gained revenge over the New Zealander with a victory in the Last 16, before defeating Stuart Leach and Quinton Gardiner to reach the final, where he defeated another Kiwi, Darren Herewini 6-1.
