MARK WEBSTER 9-1 TONY O'SHEA

MARK WEBSTER roared into his first major final with a 9-1 demolition of Tony O'Shea in the Topic International Darts League.

The Welsh youngster, 23, has only ever reached the semi-finals at the World Masters previously, but surpassed that showing in style in Nijmegen.

O'Shea had landed a nine-darter and defeated World Champion Raymond van Barneveld on his way to the last four, but could not answer Webster's strong scoring.

The Welshman was particularly impressive switching to treble 19, landing 14 scores of 134 or 137 in addition to 18 140s and three maximums.

O'Shea won just seven legs in the contest, and just one in the last nine as Webster powered over the finishing line.

Webster took the opening set 2-0 against the throw before O'Shea responded in kind to level matters, landing a 117 finish to take the second set's opener with his opponent sat on 24.

O'Shea led in the third before legs of 16 and 14 darts put Webster 2-1 up in the match, and he took set four also in a decider to put daylight between the pair.

Webster then won set five 2-0 and the sixth 2-1 to create a 5-1 cushion before a run of four legs in a row saw him extend his lead to six sets at the break.

Back-to-back 16-darters put Webster 8-1 up before he hit a superb 12-darter with a 129 finish to move to within a leg of victory.

A fine 14-darter from O'Shea kept him in the contest, but it was only brief respite as Webster stepped up to land double ten and seal the win in the deciding leg.

"It's a dream, I'm absolutely made up," said Webster. "I feel good up on stage now and I'll be ready for the final."

O'Shea admitted: "I felt drained. There was a lot of emotion with beating Raymond yesterday and I was tired today.

"Mark played well and I wish him the best of luck in the final."

GARY ANDERSON 9-1 ADRIAN LEWIS

GARY ANDERSON produced another fantastic performance to shatter Adrian Lewis's hopes at the Topic International Darts League.

The Scotsman has been in superb form throughout the tournament and wasted little time in adding Lewis to his list of scalps.

He will now meet Wales' Mark Webster in Sunday's final and is within 13 sets of claiming his first televised title.

Both players opened with maximums in the first leg, which was won against the throw by Lewis before Anderson took the next two with a 118 finish and then double top to win the first set.

Lewis also led in set two after a 112 checkout - despite his opponent opening with six perfect darts - with Anderson hitting double 12 to square matters and then a fine 155 finish to double his advantage.

Anderson then moved 4-0 up by winnnng the next four legs and pushed further in front by punishing Lewis' misses in the first leg of the fifth set and then hitting a brilliant 11-darter.

Lewis ended that run of eight successive legs by winning two of his own to take set six, including an 87 finishing on the bull to get off the mark.

Anderson included a 120 finish in winning the seventh set in a decider after Lewis was off-target to pull back to 5-2, and he punished further misses from his opponent in the eighth to enter the break 7-1 up.

He returned to the stage to open the ninth set with a maximum, and needed just four more legs to book his place in the final.

"Gary has been the best player all week and he deserves his place in the final," said Lewis.

"I'm disappointed but I didn't really get going tonight. I couldn't get into the groove but there was a lot of pressure up there.

"I didn't put him under pressure early on, I missed a few doubles and my scoring didn't match his. If I'd got it back to 5-2, maybe I'd have come back but it wasn't to be."
