PDC To Rock In January!

THE PDC are delighted to announce that the Stan James Players Championship will be played in Gibraltar on Saturday 21 January 2006.

The new tournament will take the same format as the PDPA Players Championship events, and will carry Pro Tour status and ranking points.

Following the success of the recent Players Championship tournaments in Holland, it has been decided that residents of Gibraltar and Spain can join PDPA members in the event.

Their entry fee will be £75, while eight players will win a place in the tournament from a qualifying competition which will also take place on 21 January.

That tournament will be played over the best of seven legs throughout, with the last eight players winning £100 and entry into the Stan James Players Championship.

"This is a fantastic development for professional darts in Gibraltar," said PDC Chief Executive Tim Darby.

"For players in Gilbraltar and Spain to have the chance to play for a share of a £20,000 prize fund against the world's best darts players is a great opportunity.

"The PDPA Players Championship tournaments have become some of the most popular in the calendar and I'm sure players will be keen to sample the experience of Gibraltar at this event."

Entry for PDPA members will be £65, and entries will close on Thursday 12 January at 4pm.

UK-based players can enter on 02476 69335. Players from Gibraltar should contact Justin Broton on 54022622/627610878 or by email on jbroton@gibraltardarts.com.
