ROLAND SCHOLTEN and Colin Lloyd booked their places in the quarter-finals of the Topic International Darts League on Thursday night - but Phil Taylor lost to Jelle Klaasen.

In an amazing contest between the respective World Champions, Klaasen came from 5-3 down to lead 6-5 against Taylor - who had already booked his last eight berth.

Taylor levelled matters to send the game into a decider, and Klaasen maintained his cool to seal the win.

Klaasen's triumph left Colin Lloyd needing to defeat Shaun Greatbatch to progress to the quarters - and the world number one obliged with a gritty 7-5 triumph.

Scholten booked his place in the quarter-finals in dramatic fashion against Ronnie Baxter.

Baxter came from behind to lead 6-5 but missed chances to win the match in the final two legs to allow Scholten to secure second place in Group I.

Raymond van Barneveld completed the second group stage unbeaten with a 7-5 defeat of Paul Hogan, who fought back from 5-1 down before the Dutchman completed the win.

In a dramatic finale to the Group L matches, overnight group leader Darryl Fitton lost 7-3 to Martin Adams and Michael van Gerwen averaged over 106 in his 7-2 win over Tony O'Shea.

That meant Fitton missed out on a place in the last eight on leg difference, with Adams and teenage wonderkid van Gerwen - by just one leg from Fitton - progressing.

Ted Hankey and Simon Whitlock had already qualified from Group K, but a 7-2 win for Hankey when the two met on Thursday means Whitlock faces Taylor in the quarters.

Should Taylor overcome the Australian, he could meet van Barneveld in the semi-finals, with the Dutchman facing van Gerwen in a mouthwatering contest.

Lloyd meets Hankey in the third quarter-final, with Scholten meeting Adams in Friday's final match.
