THE race for places in the Cash Converters Players Championship Finals will conclude this weekend, when the final PDC ProTour events of 2014 are held in Coventry.
A pair of £50,000 Players Championship events will be held across the weekend at the Ricoh Arena, featuring 128 players with either a PDC Tour Cards or PDPA Associate Membership.
The weekend concludes the 34 PDC ProTour events in 2014, which include the eight European Tour events, six UK Open Qualifiers and 20 Players Championships, with the top 32 players from the year's final ProTour Order of Merit qualifying to compete in the Cash Converters Players Championship Finals.
The Players Championship Finals will be held at the Butlins Minehead Resort from November 28-30 live on ITV4, with 2010 champion Paul Nicholson currently sitting outside of the qualifying places.
With two events to go, Nicholson sits £2,250 behind Jamie Lewis and Richie Burnett, who occupy the provisional 32nd place on £17,000 - with Premier League Darts champion Raymond van Barneveld only £250 above that pair.
Christian Kist is just £250 behind Lewis and Burnett, with Mark Webster, Ronny Huybrechts and Wayne Jones needing to reach a final to break into the top 32.
Three-time World Champion John Part, World Youth Champion Keegan Brown, John Henderson, Joe Cullen, Stuart Kellett and David Pallett sit further back in the ProTour Order of Merit going into the final weekend.
At the top of the rankings, Michael van Gerwen sits ahead of Gary Anderson in the race to become the number one seed for the Players Championship Finals, where the Dutchman will defend his title.
Former champions Phil Taylor and Kevin Painter are also set to be amongst the 32-player field, alongside former finalists Robert Thornton, Mervyn King and Kim Huybrechts.
The weekend's Players Championship events are also the last chance for players to claim automatic spots in the William Hill World Darts Championship.
The leading 16 non-qualified players from the ProTour Order of Merit, outside of the top 32 in the main PDC Order of Merit, will qualify to compete at Alexandra Palace next month, alongside four European players from the ProTour Order of Merit.
