Harju & Labanauskas prevail on Nordic & Baltic ProTour in Finland

Teemu Harju and Darius Labanauskas secured their first Nordic & Baltic ProTour titles of 2025 during an action-packed weekend in Finland.

Harju kicked off the year’s fourth ProTour double-header with a memorable triumph on home soil, demolishing Daniel Larsson 6-2 to clinch the Event Seven title.

The 32-year-old also averaged 97 in his semi-final success against Larsson’s fellow Swede Johan Engstrom, having swept aside his compatriots Valtteri Nikunen, Uki Takkinen and Kim Viljanen earlier in the day.

Lithuanian trailblazer Labanauskas then emerged victorious in Sunday’s Event Eight, averaging 97.57 to complete a 6-3 success against Nordic & Baltic Order of Merit leader Andreas Harrysson.

Labanauskas came through a series of bruising encounters to prevail in Vääsky, recovering from 3-2 down to defeat Iceland’s Alexander Thorvaldsson in round one.

The former World Championship quarter-finalist then overturned 5-3 and 5-2 deficits to stun Jani Keskinarkaus and Oskar Lukasiak, before powering past Engstrom in the semi-finals.

The weekend’s play also saw qualifiers for European Tour Events 7-9 take place, as Harju backed up his Event Seven success by qualifying for the upcoming Dutch Darts Championship (ET7).

Harju will make his second European Tour appearance of 2025 in Rosmalen from May 23-25, after closing out a 6-4 victory against Engstrom in the ET7 decider.

However, Engstrom will feature in July’s Baltic Sea Darts Open (ET9), after winning through a dramatic contest against Iceland’s Matthías Örn Friðriksson, who was bidding to become the first Icelandic representative to compete on the European Tour.

Friðriksson squandered five match darts in the closing stages of the tie, after Engstrom had produced a superb 104.86 average to whitewash his fellow countryman Par Riihonen earlier in the event.

The ET8 Qualifier was also won by a Swedish representative, as Harrysson recorded a trio of deciding-leg victories against Dmitriy Zhukov, Marko Kantele and Harju to book his place at the European Darts Open later this month.

Harrysson also occupies top spot on the Nordic & Baltic ProTour Order of Merit following Event Eight, with Lukasiak, Harju and Latvia’s Valters Melderis completing the top four.

The 2025 Nordic & Baltic ProTour season continues in Denmark later this summer, as ProTour Events 9-10 and Qualifiers for European Tour Events 10-11 take place in Slangerup from July 4-6.
